IMPACT ON EMPLOYEES & EMPLOYERS

Trade unions gave employees a better life, with better working conditions. Because of trade unions, employees would not have to slave away at work for as long, get a better pay for the hours they works and a safer work environment. This meant they were wealthier, so could use more money towards their families, living places, food, etc. Also, it meant that they would be healthier as they had safer conditions as they had safer machinery to work with and were not pushed to take dangerous risks during work. On the other hand, it would take a negative toll on employers as they would have to begin to pay the employees more, not have work done as fast and would have to spend more money to provide some of the changes. Although, they were still the wealthier class, just a little less than before.

EFFECTS ON ECONOMY

The trade unions began to have an effect on the economy during the Industrial Revolution. Workers were fighting for more rights, including higher pay, and they were achieving their goal of having laws to do with their rights enforced. Workers having a higher pay meant the employers had to pay them more than they were already getting paid. This resulted in the amount of money employers had reducing, and the amount of money employees had, increasing. Although employers were still getting paid more than employees, these changes were not great for them as they were giving up more and more of their money to their employees. The working class (employees) began to be seen as middle-class people, and there began to be a show of bigger things that they could purchase with their new increased amount of pay.
